Earlier this record was held by Kevin O'Brien of Ireland, who scored a Century in 50 balls. Ireland's Kevin scored a Century in 50 balls against England in the 2011 World Cup. Whereas Markram accomplished the feat of scoring the fastest century of the ODI World Cup against Sri Lanka.
Markram returned to the pavilion after scoring 106 runs in 54 balls at a strike rate of 196.30. His innings included 14 fours and 3 sixes. He came out to bat at number four. Markram appeared aggressive from the beginning of the innings. The Sri Lankan bowlers looked completely helpless in front of him.
