Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have got a big boost ahead of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as Ben Stokes has confirmed his participation in the tournament.

The England Test captain was suffering from a knee injury during the recently concluded two-match Test series against New Zealand, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Ben Stokes said in the post-match conference after the Wellington Test that he is in talks with Chennai Super Kings Head Coach Stephen Fleming about his workload.

“I am going to Play IPL. I have conversation to 'Fleming' and he is fully aware of the condition of my body. It is a week-to-week case at the moment.

Injury Update from Ben Stokes

Stokes further admitted that his knee injury is slowing him down, but he is determined to recover in time for the Ashes, which will start soon after the completion of IPL 2023.

I still have four months to get better before the Ashes as I look to play my role properly in the first Test in Birmingham.

Ben Stokes has had a successful tenure as England Test Captain, Winning 10 out of 12 Tests since replacing Joe Root last year. South Africa and New Zealand are the only teams to beat England once during this period.
