Big Blow For New Zealand, Star Player Certain to be Out of ICC World Cup 2023
New Zealand fast bowler's right thumb fractured while fielding
New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee is doubtful for the ICC World Cup 2023 after he fractured his right thumb while fielding during the fourth and final ODI against England on Friday.
“X-rays have confirmed that Tim Southee dislocated and fractured his right thumb while attempting to take a catch in the 14th over of the first innings. "The timeline of his recovery will be determined tomorrow when he is further assessed," NZC said in a statement.
If Tim Southee fails to make it to the ICC World Cup 2023, it will be a big blow for New Zealand as he is their experienced fast bowler. The good thing is that the Kiwis can celebrate the return of Kane Williamson after being away from cricket for more than six months.
